Professional Grant Application Has Closed

The National Association for Interpretation has a program to provide grant assistance to professional interpreters to help offset the costs of professional development through NAI. Limited funds are available as part of NAI’s overall scholarship program that can be applied to the national conference.
Grant applications for attendance at the NAI 2024 National Conference in St. Augustine, Florida, December 3-6, are now being accepted. Recipients will be chosen based on financial need, past/current involvement in the field of interpretation, and the extent to which an individual’s career is likely to benefit from attending the conference.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be employed in the field of interpretation, either full-time or seasonally.
- Applicants must be a Professional, Seasonal, or Volunteer level member of NAI through December 31, 2024.
- Applicants must be able to attend the NAI National Conference December 3-6 in St. Augustine, Florida.
- NAI national, regional, and sectional officers, scholarship committee members, and members of their families are not eligible. Previous national professional grant and student scholarship winners are not eligible for a period of two years.
To Apply
To apply, please fill out the NAI Professional Grant Application form below. You will be asked to upload the following (as PDF files), please note that these files are required to be considered for a grant:
- One letter of recommendation, preferably from a current supervisor
- A current resume
Grants are guaranteed to cover the cost of base registration (up to $400, the early registration volunteer rate) and may include a hotel room.
All parts of the application must be received by midnight June 28, 2024.
Grant recipients will be required to volunteer up to eight hours at the Interpreter's Yard Sale and will also be asked to do one of the following:
- Submit a reflection on their participation in the Interpreter's Network.
- Submit images of themselves participating in the conference that can be used on association website and/or social media
Grants will be awarded on or around June 30, 2024. We ask that applicants wait to register for the conference until after grants have been awarded.
